PerformCare Pennsylvania – Anthony House

This month’s spotlight is on PACT member Anthony D. House and PerformCare Pennsylvania. Mr. House serves at PerformCare as the Manager of Consumer and Family Affairs and has been with PACT for six or seven years. PerformCare offices are located in Harrisburg and in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.

Formerly known as Community Behavioral Healthcare Network of Pennsylvania (CBHNP), PerformCare has served in the Capital area since October 2, 2001. Mr. House joined the company in December of 2001. His team is the Behavioral Health Managed Care Organization (BHMCO). They establish a network of providers eligible to receive medical assistance payments and authorizes and pays for mental health and substance use services for their Members.

PerformCare enjoys the various benefits of involving Members, families, and communities in the work they do. They have a thriving Advisory Committee that boasts 80-87% participation by individuals in recovery from mental health and substance use problems. There are other opportunities for involvement and for people to have their voices heard. Mr. House and those who serve at PerformCare enjoy and benefit greatly by maintaining a strong community footprint. Many of PerformCare’s educational programs and materials are developed alongside people in recovery, family members, and community advocates recruited from organizations within served communities.

For Mr. House, the work of community engagement and involvement is challenging, but remains a privilege and a genuine honor. That a Managed Care Organization would see value in maintaining such a role is integral to his ability to persist in what brings him such pleasure.
Mr. House and the rest of PerformCare are dedicated to maintaining connections with the individuals they serve as well as the families and communities who support people in recovery. Unfortunately, there are Members (Medicaid Eligibles) who do not fully understand PerformCare and that in Pennsylvania’s HealthChoices program, they have two Medical Care Organizations to serve their physical health and behavioral healthcare need. Mr. House and PerformCare work hard and will continue to work diligently in addressing this problem.

To support the vision and future of PerformCare, readers like you are encouraged to participate on committees and invite PerformCare to come and share who they are and what they offer.
