Martha Wadsworth received a grant from the National Institutes of Health for a prevention program designed to prevent the development of anxiety and depression symptoms in preadolescent children facing chronic stress. This grant was featured by the National Institute of Mental Health as a "notable grant" in their 2016 spring edition of Inside NIMH and was also featured in the May 6, 2016, edition of Penn State News. The funding received will allow her to expand upon her previous work with the community and the Building a Strong Identity and Coping Skills (BaSICS) Program. BaSICS was developed by the Penn State CaRES Lab and will be administered by the College of the Liberal Arts, University Park.
