A pillar in the Harrisburg community for over 190 years, PACT’s June spotlight is the Harrisburg School District. Family Engagement Coordinator Tiffany Laing represents the district on PACT’s Community Advisory Board. Having been with the district for 18 years, her commitment to the community runs deep. Laing works with a team to make sure the students excel, and their families are supported by hosting events and collaborating with community organizations to provide resources. During the 2025-2026 school year, they hosted over 90 events. In her role as a Family Engagement Coordinator, Laing is proud to represent the district by supporting and collaborating with students, families, and the community to strengthen student and family success through trusted partnerships that make meaningful connections.
The Harrisburg School District is committed to providing rigorous and relevant education to all students. They foster high expectations in their learning environments and utilize data-driven lesson plans taught by committed, highly qualified teachers. The district values cultural responsiveness to create safe, welcoming, and positive school environments. They believe doing so will enhance, empower, and promote the value of lifelong learning for their students. Engaging families and the broader community in students’ educational process is a priority for Laing, other Family Engagement Coordinators, and the district at large.
In June of 2026, Harrisburg School District graduated 305 students, 268 of which have confirmed post-graduation plans. The district boasts several sports programs available to students, including soccer, girls' volleyball, track and field, and an ESports team! This Fall, the district will begin its Career and Technical Education Entrepreneurship Program. This program will connect students with the practical resources they need to succeed as business leaders and entrepreneurs.
The district envisions a bright future for their students and the community by empowering families and students with the relationships, resources, and support needed to achieve lifelong success. They invite community members and organizations to partner with them through events, donations, scholarships, volunteer efforts, and any other opportunities that could empower their community.
